The Centre Party's proposal is that there should be police presence in all municipalities in Sweden. However, this does not mean that there must be a permanent police station in every municipality.
"No municipality should be abandoned by the police," said party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist at a press conference in front of the police station in the Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby.
According to the Centre Party, 110 municipalities in Sweden currently lack a permanent police presence. Thand Ringqvist said it should not matter whether someone lives in Rinkeby or Rättvik; everyone should have access to police services.
"It is important so that you can report a crime. But also so that people feel that the police are coming to do the investigations needed to investigate multiple offences, which are not being done today," she said.
The party also wants a national offensive to be carried out against crimes like theft and vandalism.
"It is a large majority of all reported crimes. It affects many small business owners and families, while too few crimes are solved," said the Centre Party's legal policy spokesperson Ulrika Liljeberg.
The party intends that the investments will be made within the police's existing budget, which this year is close to 50 billion kronor.
The Centre Party has presented five additional government demands, including investing in young people's mental health and creating more jobs are two of them. According to the party leader, the demands are deliberately formulated as overarching policy positions, not specific policies.
"For example, increasing the number of jobs is about lowering taxes for people and companies because we know that it is so important to make jobs work. We have not gone into exact tax rates, but rather broader guidelines," said Thand Ringqvist.
