Tesla mechanics in Sweden out on strike again
Tesla mechanics working for the IF Metall union have renewed their strike at Tesla garages in Malmö, Umeå, Uppsala, Upplands Väsby, Segeltorp and Huddinge, starting from August 13th, after the union failed to reach an agreement with the electric car company's Swedish subsidiary.
"Despite lengthy negotiations, we have unfortunately not managed to reach an agreement with TM Sweden AB. TM Sweden AB has given notice that they do not intend to sign a collective agreement for their operations," the union wrote to the Swedish Mediation Institute, according to the Dagens Arbete newspaper.
The union temporarily paused the strike, which has been ongoing since October 2023, at several workshops in the spring, allowing roughly 40 mechanics to return to work.

Left Party MP apologises for sending support message to terrorist
The Left Party MP Ilona Szatmári Waldau has apologised for sending a letter of support to a Palestinian terrorist jailed in Israel, saying the letter was part of a letter-writing campaign by Swedish MPs and that those who had committed terror crimes should have been excluded.
"In December I wrote a letter to a Palestinian prisoner as part of a campaign where several MPs wrote letters of support to Palestinian prisoners," she wrote on Facebook. "None of the prisoners were supposed to have carried out violence against civilians or have human lives on their conscience. In this case, the fact-checking was flawed, which is not acceptable. I have taken down the post. Terrorism and violence against civilians is not something I support or encourage."
Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar told the Aftonbladet newspaper that she supported Ilona Szatmári Waldau.
"What she wanted to say is that they should have a just trial according to the Geneva convention. I feel very comfortable with her values."

Top Sweden Democrat compares left-wing journalist to pro-Nazi traitor
One of the most senior figures in the far-right Sweden Democrats has compared the political editor of Sweden's leading left-wing newspaper to Vidkun Quisling, who headed Norway's puppet government during its occupation by Nazi Germany.
Richard Jomshof, one of the so-called 'gang of four' who took over the Sweden Democrats in 1995 and turned it into a party capable of entering parliament, made the attack in a post on X, in which he showed an image of Anders Lindberg, political editor of the Aftonbladet newspaper, next to Quisling.
"The man on the left is Quisling. The man on the right is a quisling," he wrote.
"In the same way that the Norwegian traitors collaborated with the Nazis, we can today see how Swedish traitors collaborate with Islamists," he went on as the post generated increasing outrage.
"They represent and advocate a policy in which these anti-democrats are given the opportunity not only to immigrate to Sweden but also to establish themselves here, with the goal of taking over our country and overthrowing our democracy. So yes, they are always traitors, quislings if you will."
As the post generated increasing outrage, Lindberg said he interpreted the post as a threat.
"It crosses all boundaries. They shot Quisling, as he very well knows. I do not like the fact that leading politicians are calling journalists traitors to the nation."
Magdalena Andersson, leader of the opposition Social Democrats, called Jomshof's statement "deeply un-Swedish".
"This is clearly a party which works actively to silence critical voice. That's not how we behave in Sweden."
