Residents in northwestern Svealand and parts of southernmost Norrland may need to take shelter on Saturday, as Swedish weather agency SMHI issued a yellow warning for heavy torrential rain.
Some 30-55 mm of rain is expected in parts of Svealand, which refers to the central part of Sweden, and Norrland, which covers the north.
The warning specifically applies to northern Värmland, northwestern Dalarna, southernmost Jämtland and parts of northwestern Gävleborg County.
The rain and thunderstorms are expected to begin in the afternoon on Saturday and a total of 30-50 mm of rain may fall during a short period, which could lead to local flooding.
The rain is expected to subside during Saturday evening and on Sunday there is expected to be a break.
