The first big snowfall of the season is expected as far south as Dalarna and northern Värmland this week, according to Sweden's national weather agency, SMHI.
On Thursday, a low-pressure system is set to bring rain to southern and central Sweden. As the low pressure moves eastwards over Finland, northerly winds are set to push cold air further south, bringing snow to Dalarna and Värmland.
By Saturday, a widespread low-pressure area is predicted to bring rain across large parts of the country. In parts of Norrland, the cold temperatures mean that it may come down partially as snow or sleet.
Autumn is also expected to move further south this week.
Sweden defines "autumn" as a daily average temperature below 10C for five consecutive days.
